Hello Summer Bridge Scholars! I am the Summer Bridge Coordinator. My pronouns are she/her/hers and I identify as an educator, artist, athlete, and organizer. My upbringing as a low-income first generation daughter of Mexican immigrants motivates a lot of the work I do. I am the first in my family to graduate high school, go to college, get a Master’s degree, and have a career. I attended UC Santa Cruz as an undergraduate student and double majored in Latin American and Latina/o studies and Community Studies. I got my Master’s degree in Postsecondary Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Student Affairs from San Diego State University. I come from marginalized communities where going to college was not an expectation, it was actually rare, and college information was scarce. When I became an undergraduate student at UC Santa Cruz I was so blown away by all the opportunities and doors that were opening up for me. I found my voice in college and discovered my agency as well. Pursuing your education can be a very empowering experience. I hope you all have a great Summer Bridge and college experience and know that I, along with our EOP family, am here for you. I was an EOP student as an undergrad and deeply believe in EOP’s mission to expand educational opportunities. I am really excited to get to know all of you and see you thrive!
