Jose Ortiz

Hello Summer Bridge students, and a big hello to my cohort. My name is Jose Ortiz and I am a fifth-year economics student at SDSU. I want to take this opportunity to be able to introduce myself and give you all a perspective of who I am. I was born and raised in San Diego and have been living in the community of City Heights ever since (and I can only hope some of you live or have lived here as well). Some of the things that I like to do in my spare time vary and go from one area to a completely different one. I like to go to the gym, play any sport but golf, boogie board at the beach, chill at the beach, camp, read, or play video games (preferably multiplayer games). I am recently a graduate in the Price Community Scholars Program so I have had some experience in being a mentor and I wanted to continue to be a mentor and serve as a leader in my community, I wanted to be able to become a helpful resource for you all and helping you all in your journey towards your academic goals. If you have any questions or would like to chit-chat I am always open to listening to your story and I can't wait to meet you all!

This picture details a fun night I had with my cohort mates from the program during our annual Summer Kickback Celebration.

Although I may not be able to be clearly seen, here I am trying to work with my cohort mates in trying to finish a puzzle to be able to make it to the other side of the zipline.

This is the group from my recent program, Price Community Scholars. I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to work with, become friends, and grow into a little family.

This was an amazing day. I was able to see Mexico win and had an amazing time with my best friends.

All, if not most, of my best friends having an amazing day at the beach the year after graduation.
