Antonio Marquez

My name is Antonio Marquez, I am a fifth-year student finishing my Journalism degree. I love to volunteer and guide others the way I wish someone guided me. I was born in Guanajuato GTO. But Mexico is a distant memory for me, and I call San Diego my hometown where I grew up and where I always wish to attend San Diego State University and of course I also attended San Diego High School and San Diego City College. I love Power Rangers and running which is how I destress. On campus I am part of Associated Students in the Board of directors and also part of student orgs which are the National Association of Hispanic Journalist and Education without Borders. I also write for Mundo Azteca which is part of the Daily Aztec our school newspaper and I am a DJ om KCR our campus Radio Station. As a mentor, I want to be able to be the person students turn to in times of need and when they need guidance.

I love going to comic con with my bear Cafesito where we dress up together.

I took a trip to New York where more than ever I knew that I wanted to be a correspondent for a news organization that will let me trouble.

I was part of the Mecha Conference this year where I gave a presentation on coming out twice (meaning as an Undocumented Student and LGTBTQ+ Student)

Last August (2018)I gave the welcoming speech to the incoming transfer students which gave my SDSU experience a full circle because I was sitting in their sits the year before.

I host The DREAMER HOUR where I bring in guests from the community to talk about resources for undocumented students and play music from the 80's to today.
